With everything that was going on, I decided, originally, to take some time off from blogging, but then Wise One was feeling sick, and normally that means she wants to just be alone. It was bound to happen, since Ms. HyperDiva spread her illness around the house. There is a reason she’s called that, and now you see why.
Which means……I’m back………until Wise One needs me.
She’s almost grown, of which means I’m needed on an ‘as needed’ basis. It’s something I’m still getting used to. In any event, let’s continue!
You read the title, thinking, ‘I hope that is a positive thing, because their is nothing positive about frost bite’.
You’re right, it’s a family drink. It can be made for adults, and kid friendly too. I came up with it to combine candy and hot cocoa during the holidays. The less mess, the better. Like the creative name, don’t ya? LOL.
Chocolate Frost Bite
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cup milk(can use milk substitute if needed)
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
If making family friendly, add 1/2 of a peppermint patty when called for. If for adult drink, add 1 oz peppermint schnapps, and 1 oz vanilla rum.
Combine cocoa, sugar, and salt. Blend with boiling water. Bring the mix to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for 2 minutes. Stir in the milk. and heat until very hot. DO NOT BOIL! Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Take 1/2 of the peppermint patty and drop into mug. Then pour cocoa mix over the candy.
If doing the adult version, pour in alcohol into mug first, then pour cocoa mix.
Stir to mix in ingredients, and top off with a spoonful of whipped crème. If you want more peppermint flavor, garnish with crushed candy canes, or peppermint disk candies.
I don’t have pictures of this one, since we haven’t made it yet. I’ll put pictures up on the instagram and facebook page later next week to show you the results. Enjoy!
