Are we really half way through the Holly Days?!
Shut ya face!!!!
Yes, Christmas is only 3 days away, and New Years is 10 days away. We will be saying goodbye to 2014, and hello 2015. Its been an interesting year, not all bad, just interesting. I honestly love interesting, because it gives you time to think on things that has happened, both good and bad.
Which leads us into Day 13’s topic: Volunteering at your local school.
I have three kids, and ever since my first one was started school, I volunteered. He’s always been in a special needs program, so it was to let him and his classmates know, not everyone sees you as difficult to deal with, or disabled. You are who you are and we love you for it. Yes, that’s deep, but in these kids cases, as time goes on, kids and adults can be cruel. These kids need to know that they are awesome, and we as a society will embrace them and help as much as possible.
With that said, I didn’t forget the other two. I volunteered, and even was room parent a couple years. I served on the PTA at my youngest daughters school, before we relocated.
Volunteering shows that you care about their education and them in general. Right up there with homework, it lets you see kids in their element, and see the relationship between the teacher and your child. Secretly, it gives the teacher a break too. They have so much on their plates daily, even if its just a party or reading a story, it all helps. Giving back to your classroom, or a classroom, in time, makes a difference in the educational process. You may be surprised how much you make a difference in a child’s life by doing so, even if it’s just cutting out patterns for the kids craft project, every little bit helps.
