Along with cooking today, I figured out a recipe from a very popular restaurant!
Now, last week, Mom Hulk, Wise One, and I finally checked out Red Robin. We were very impressed with the wait staff, order options, and food altogether. You guys know me, I people watch like no tomorrow, and when out in a restaurant, I check out the place.
Of course, I’m a foodie, which made me start this whole movement. Also means, I’m trying everything my stomach can hold. One drink caught my eye, and it was non-alcoholic.
Say Wha?
Yes. If you have dined at Red Robin, it’s called ‘The Freckled Lemonade’. It looked really good, and from a bartender stand point, really easy to duplicate. I decided why not, go big or go home, right?
As I waited, I looked over this picture. I attempted to try and guess how it was made, and of course, Wise One gave me the ‘Mom, do you ever just enjoy food?’. Not really, I decipher food because if I can make it at home, I will. Once it arrived, I took one big gulp.
It was fabulous! Not to mention, my guesses were right! As I continued to enjoy my appetizers, and lunch with the family, I already made the decision to make this at home, and share with you guys!
Couple days later, I put my guesses together, and re-created the drink for dinner. My kids loved it, and I hope you do too!
Home Freckled Lemonade
2 pints strawberries, rinsed and cut in half
Bag of lemons, cut in quarters
1 liter of minute maid lemonade (if you want a fresher taste, make lemonade from lemon juice or fresh lemons)
Grenadine or Strawberry Puree Mix
Ice
(I made this in a pitcher, but can be done by the cup)
In the pitcher, pour 4 tablespoons of strawberry mix/grenadine in first. In a bowl, muddle(smash) 1/2 pint of strawberries. Add to pitcher. Add Lemonade. Stir. Store in your refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
When serving: layer strawberries, then ice until cup is full. Pour drink over ice and fruit. Garnish with a strawberry and lemon slice.
It’s a great drink, and can be pre-made if you are in a jam for time, or making it for a party.
Until next time, for another restaurant copycat……Enjoy!
