Now even though we are on lock down, I still have classes. They moved all of them online as much as they could. Also means, I have to prep dinner as much as I can since zoom and I are BFFs now.
No worries, ya girl is always up for a challenge!
I made pancakes today. Sometimes, you just want breakfast for dinner, ya know?

Yum.
The other reason was it gave me energy to prep tomorrow’s dinner. Normally we have Tasty Tuesday, but with the stay home orders, and monies tight, we had to get back to basics. Which is fine, because I know how to cook.
This dish was one my mom made us as kids very frequently. I never realized how easy it was!!! Of course, you know I changed it up a little bit….
Now, remember that ingredient on the left. I’ll explain that hack in a minute.
My mom made us hamburger steaks at least twice a month. Its a really easy dish AND you can prep it the night before. We haven’t had it in a long time, so I figured why not. We have time to kill.
Here’s the deets:
Hamburger Steaks
3 lbs ground turkey
2 packages grill seasonings
1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
2 teaspoons beef bouillon powder
1/4 teaspoon minced onion
Seasoning salt
Garlic Pepper
Parchment paper/Wax Paper
Ziploc bag or container
Mix all ingredients in a big bowl. Make patties in an oval shape. Lay patties on to a sheet of parchment paper. You can layer these patties. Once done, put in the ziploc bags or container. Store in refrigerator. This let’s the seasonings marinade.
*Awesome cheat: if you buy the turkey the same day, you can do this, and freeze the meat until your ready to use!*
The next day…..
Options:
Heat oven to 375, bake until pink has disappeared. It averages about 30-45 minutes, depending on thickness of steaks.
Grill to your liking. Which is what we decided on.

Cook on stove top. Again, make sure to use nonstick spray or butter if you want. We don’t judge around here. Just make sure they are FULLY COOKED!
Remember how I said earlier to pay attention to the beef bouillon powder? Its a hack my mom told me about a couple months back. Whether you eat ground turkey, bison, or if you have adapted a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, it works. It plays on the taste buds that it makes you think your eating beef but its not. No one but has to know but you.

Yup. You got those skills…..
You’ll thank me later.

Here’s the finished product!
I chose loaded potatoes(how Mah Crew likes them) and a California mix for sides with gravy from scratch.
The prep time is well worth the finished product. Like I mentioned before, you could prep this, freeze it, and then defrost it when ready to cook.

Just remember, if you chose that option, the meat has to be thawed already. You can’t unthaw meat, prep, then refreeze(cooking 101).
Cook it and comment how it came out! What did you pair with it????
