I’m up early, getting my mind ready to finish my homework, and planning out errands.
You know the usual. I read my news, and blogs, and emails while I have quiet time. I came across a blog on a plus size site I read. It was on the biggest body craze that is out right now, waist training.
Now, I have nothing against looking good. I mean I look good even on my worst day. My problem is the message being sent. I’m a firm believer in everyone is different for a reason. We don’t need to look the same, because that shit is boring.
Now, if you want to lose weight, like myself, good for you. I say that carefully as well, because some of the most beautiful people I’ve met are ‘plus sized’. They wear it well, and look damn good at it. It’s a personal choice to make that step. It’s also, in some cases, a very hard one.
Which brings me to the point.
Most people lose weight for health reasons. Not to look cute or like Kim Kardashian. Waist training is a different concept, but dangerous. What most people don’t realize, and woman don’t admit or tell others is it crushes your insides in the process.
In waist training, you have to wear a corset over time. Your body molds to the shape of the corset, and you gradually tie the corset tighter to get the hour glass shape. When you began to do this, your cracking your ribs slowly. Even with exercise, your bones can fracture, and your internal organs can shift. You began to have breathing issues, and have bad posture from long term use, then going without the corset.
Why do you want all of that crap just for a shape? Why not embrace who you are and say fuck everyone else?
Losing weight and getting toned for you health is awesome. You do these things to get healthly and to feel better. When you get to that point, I feel as if you have some mental issues your not addressing. That’s not to say getting a slimmer waist isn’t possible, but if your willing to slowly damage your body to do so, just stay fat.
Their are both males and females who think that’s attractive, but will they find you attractive looking like Quasimodo, and coughing like you smoke two packs of cigarettes a day, but you never smoked a day in your life? Trust me, with all you went through to look like that, if you have that appearance, they’ll be questioning that real quick.
I have the issue with this because we are all about telling our youth to be themselves, to love themselves. To accept everyone for who they are. Parent or not, how can you teach that, and then modify yourself like that. Your lying to children by your actions. Get healthy and tone because you want to be in a healthy area with your body.
These are mixed messages we are sending to our kids, and willing to damage ourselves for it. I call bullshit shenanigans on this movement as a hole. I’m a plus size gal, and I don’t like being overweight. I know that losing weight will help my health in many ways, but doing this is just as bad as me giving into an extreme big girl feitsh some guys have.
I lose weight for me.
I look awesome in my own option.
I go against the trend on a lot of things, and that what’s makes you beautiful.
